GT3 Racing &
Gentleman Racers

GT3 represents the golden balance between accessibility and performance. Introduced in 2006, the GT3 class allows wealthy privateers and gentleman drivers to race production-based supercars from Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, Mercedes, BMW and more all balanced through BoP (Balance of Performance) to ensure close, competitive racing.

The Philosophy of GT3

2006 - Present

GT3 was designed as the "customer racing" class: cars that wealthy amateurs and professional drivers could purchase from manufacturers and race competitively. Unlike GT1 or LMP1, GT3 focuses on close racing through Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations that adjust each car's weight, power, and aerodynamics to keep all manufacturers competitive. This creates incredible battles where driver skill matters more than outright speed.

R8 LMS

Audi's GT3 weapon. The R8 LMS brought endurance racing pedigree to GT3, with victories at the Nurburgring and Spa 24 Hours becoming routine. Drivers like Christopher Mies and René Rast have extracted everything from the R8's high-revving V10, an engine shared with the road car. The R8 LMS proves Audi's motorsport DNA translates perfectly to customer racing.
